Preheat oven to 400°. Unfold puff pastry and roll into a 10″ x 16″ rectangle on a lightly-greased, unsided baking sheet or on a Silpat Mat which is then placed on a baking sheet. Using a fork, pierce evenly throughout all but a 1″ border of the puff pastry. Place in the oven and bake until golden, about 15 minutes.
Remove pan and sprinkle goat cheese evenly over the surface of the pastry. Lay the asparagus tightly and evenly in a single layer over the cheese. Brush the asparagus with olive oil and then evenly scatter the zest. Lightly season with salt and freshly ground pepper.
Return to oven to bake for 25 minutes. Remove pan from oven and set on a cooling rack for at least 5 minutes. Carefully cut with a knife and share.
