Once again the Junior Board of the Children’s Hospital Foundation here in RVA has outdone itself. For 52 years, the ladies of the Junior Board have created visually stunning evenings that have made the Children’s Hospital Foundation Ball one of the most anticipated events on RVA’s annual social calendar. Following in that tradition, this year’s edition wowed the sold-out crowd and no doubt won each guest’s heart.
This year’s Heart of a Champion theme is most fitting because proceeds from Ball benefit the Foundation’s newly established Heart Center. As guests visited the various dining rooms at the Country Club of Virginia, Westhampton, they were enveloped by eye-catching interpretations of the premier event in a variety of sports. From imagination to execution on large and small scale, the Board delivered a magical setting that we delight in sharing with our gracious readers.

Though my pictures don’t begin to do the rooms justice (I’ll blame it on the atmospheric lighting), I hope you felt a sense of their wonder. Each one had so many specific details, from the oversized ceiling hangings to the oh-so-appropriate napkin rings. Maybe you even got a little inspiration for your next party. As a former decorations and ball chair for this annual black-tie event, I really want to know: which room was your favorite?

p.s. If you are thinking of trying to recreate any of these looks for your own event, Ampa Events provided the lighting and drapes, as well as many of the props used at the Ball, including Big Ben, the horse, columns and balustrade in the main ballroom, the ski lodge bar, the upholstered bar, the rose horseshoe and the boxwood in the Master’s Room.
