Dockscaping ~ the art of combining hardscaping and landscaping to create an inviting spot to dock a boat
One of my favorite summer activities is exploring new waters in our little runabout boat. While several of our posse spend their weekends rivering along the waterways that run to the Chesapeake Bay, my husband and I like to hit the road towing our boat trailer to find new locales. Nothing beats viewing the landscape from the water, and my husband has learned to stop the boat quickly when I point to a beautiful dockscape so I can snap a pic.
Some of the most elaborate dockscapes I have found are on waters that are relatively free of hurricane and flooding threats. Those tend to be man-made lakes that power companies keep at specific levels in order to maintain electricity generation. How nice to not have to worry about keeping your dockscaping investment safe.
We have started collecting images of our favorite dockscapes on our Dockscapes Pinterest Board. Here are a few of the best so far.
If you’ve got any to add, please send the photo to firstname.lastname@example.org or let me know where we can find it so I can add a new boating adventure to my list. We’d love to share it with the Pinterest universe.
p.s. Thanks so much to R*Home magazine for the mention in its most recent issue. We are so glad you found us!
