Like decorative pillows are to a chair or couch, stylish container gardens pack a lot of punch and style into a small space. I admire an eye-catching container and have been snapping away to save them for inspiration for my own. I’m training my eye; somehow when I walk into the garden center on a container mission in the spring, my results don’t seem to look like the lush creations I saw on Historic Garden Week this year.
It’s all in the container
Shannon Weisleder‘s whimsical spigot container charmed me.
Containers function: punctuation or decoration?
Choosing plant material
Shade or sun should dictate your choice of plant material. Also consider the watering and maintenance needs of the plants and your ability and willingness to care for them. Succulent plants have resurged in popularity. Not only are they low maintenance, but their color and texture are unique.
Contain your enthusiasm
As I am prone to do while writing, I take a break and wander through Pinterest. To my delight, the first pin that popped up on my feed was this by KK.
I re-pinned it to our newly-created Stylish Container Gardening. The original caption says it all: easy, simply and beautiful! I can’t wait to deck out my containers with lavender next year.
If you have stylish containers or spot some in your travels, share your photos with us! Possibilities are endless as our imaginations.
