While Alison and I were in Chapel Hill this week, we pulled ourselves away from The Carolina Inn in time to run through our favorite epicurean candy land, Southern Season. Last year we shared the good news that the high-end southern cooking and entertaining purveyor was opening a new store in RVA. We feel it’s our duty to keep you informed of its progress and whet your appetite with a few visual goodies from the updated flagship store.
That’s only a fraction of what you will find at Southern Season. RVA’s Libbie Mill store (right off Staples Mill Road just north of Broad Street) will also carry prepared foods, an ice cream bar, wine from all over the world, coffee and tea, cheese shop, bakery, cookware and utensils … just about anything you can imagine, and a lot you never knew you needed, for gracious living and entertainment. When you go, plan on a feast for the stomach and the eyes.
The RVA store is part of a 10-city expansion for Southern Season, recently acquired by a private equity firm. Richmond will be its third city, preceded by Charleston. We are in good company with other planned openings in Northern Virginia, Atlanta, Charlotte, Birmingham, Nashville, and Naples and Palm Beach, Florida.
While the opening date of our store has yet to be set, we can’t wait for Southern Season to arrive at Libbie Mill.
