In recent years, one of our favorite 4th of July outings has been the parade in Irvington, Virginia.
A fabulous small-town celebration, it draws a great crowd of Rivah folks.
If you are anywhere nearby, plan to drop by. The parade starts at 10 a.m., but arrive early to find a spot to sit. You may even want to bring a folding chair as the parade does last a while.
vintage and antique cars and
muscle cars get in on the fun.
Then come the floats
and the band from the neighboring town of Kilmarnock.

The crowds cheer on the local military boys and await the star of the day:
As these pictures from the 2011 edition show, the Town of Irvington’s 4th of July parade will leave your family feeling patriotic and proud. Will we see you in the crowd?
