With so many things going on this time of year, sometimes you just need to stop and smell the lilies. Our lilies of the valley are blooming late this year thanks to cooler than average temperatures. We will take them whenever we can get them. It still amazes us how such a tiny plant can pack such a large and wonderful scent.
Speaking of amazing, I was once again blown away by all of the authors at the 68th Annual Book & Author Dinner that was held on Wednesday night.
The event always leaves me with a new list of books to read, and this year was no exception.
You can find all of them in The Gracious Posse Shoppe.
With so much to read, you might have missed some of our posts this week. We gave you a lot of information and ideas, as well as two events that we hope you will consider attending with us.
Monday|Posse Pearls – We are thrilled to begin the planning for Celebrating Another Royal Event. This time it is a Royal Baby Shower Benefit. Please help us spread the word about hosting similar benefits to help mothers and newborns who are not so fortunate as the royal prince(ss)-to-be. We will be providing more details about how to easily host one each Monday between now and June 2nd, the date of our Richmond Shower. If you are in town, we would love for you to attend.
Tuesday|Posse Exchange – Looking for the perfect brunch/weekend breakfast or lunch? You’ve got to try Cheese Waffles with Ellen’s Roasted Red Pepper Syrup. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water.
Wednesday|Posse Passions – May Day (or How to Celebrate Spring and Avoid Gift-Giving Panic) gave us a chance to share some of our favorite gift-giving ideas for those of you drawing blanks in the face of Mother’s Day and graduations or just looking for something new and different. We hope that something clicked.
Thursday|The Gracious Home – Don’t forget to stop by the website of local garden designer and friend, Meg Turner. Her blog The Well-Dressed Garden by M. Turner Landscapes Provides Reminders of Historic Garden Week to Inspire Your Own Outdoor Transformations. If you are in need of garden inspiration, you will be richly rewarded.
Friday|About Town|Outta Town – No matter where you live, You Can Help Carry the Load of our Military Families and Truly Honor Memorial Day by walking in the Carry the Load National Relay or donating to help support military families who, like a dear friend of mine, have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The relay got underway April 30th and continues until May 26th, so hurry on over to the Relay’s website for more details.
Saturday|Serendipity & Grace – Spring Brings Joyful Finds and Farmers Markets. I was so excited to stop by my favorite farmers market yesterday. Here’s what I found.
(Ellen) I ventured to the once-a-month Irvington Market. The usual tempting offerings of fruits, vegetables, flowers and crafts were ever present, but a new entrant intrigued me: Alpaca Creations. The purveyor uses Alpaca wool to create mittens, gloves and scarves, but I was charmed by the creatures themselves.
What did you get?
