Think Pink ~ Live Green is another occasional series in our Posse Passion category. Here at The Gracious Posse we like to celebrate life with style and substance, so it is a natural extension to bring you “green living” ideas with a touch of style, hence our mantra:
The world is not our trash can, so whatever we can do to protect our mothership is essential to our well being. Reducing our landfill contribution is one step we can take in that direction. Much has been written about recycling, reducing and reusing our erstwhile trash, and I aim to extend that goal and do it stylishly.
Homemade Countertop Cleaner
First up is a recipe for countertop cleaner. I discovered this recipe on Pinterest when I was weary of cleaning my countertops (granite and Corian) with chemical-laden and ineffective store-bought cleaners. Since my kitchen is heavily used I’m persnickety about keeping those surfaces clean. With only three inexpensive ingredients and simple preparation, I had to give this a try. I love this so much it I hope never to buy store-bought again.
3 cups water
1/3 cup rubbing alcohol
3 drops Dawn dishwashing liquid (blue formula)
Combine all ingredients in a reusable spray bottle. Shake to mix.
A natural byproduct of making your own cleaner is saving money while you’re saving the planet. And who doesn’t want more jingle in your pocket for some of life’s pink pleasures?
