Just Like Us, Chez Foushee Keeps Getting Better with Age

The Gracious Posse had its first get-together to have brunch before heading to

the beautiful November Theatre

for Noel Coward’s 1920′s romp, Hay Fever (see the Richmond Times-Dispatch review here).  We chose Chez Foushee in large part because of its close proximity to the theatre and because we had not visited in a long time. After the delightful meal that we had on Sunday, we have vowed to return soon.

To celebrate the outing, the posse made a champagne toast. With a well-rounded brunch menu, our highlights included

Chez Foushee's Grilled Shrimp and Creamy Green Chili Grits via The Gracious Posse

Grilled Shrimp and Creamy Green Chili Grits dish that is based on the Charleston-raised chef’s grandmother’s recipe and

the Brussels Sprouts Salad enhanced with grilled shrimp.

With reasonably-sized portions, we did not feel too guilty indulging in dessert.  They were large and rich, and we did take leftovers home.

House favorite Classic Lemon Butter Citrus cake is similar to a dense cheesecake.

Chez Foushee's Chocolate shortbread via the Gracious Posse

Chocolate shortbread goes perfectly with the Carytown Coffee.

The attentive staff eagerly dished on the food and the chef while making sure that we had everything we needed. We discovered other restaurants near the November Theatre to grab a bite pre- or post-performance, but Chez Foushee seemed just right. Though it has been operating out of this location since 1989, we found it to be better than ever – just like us.

p.s.  Please let us know if your posse is getting together for a theatre outing in your hometown.  We’d love to feature what you’ve got going on with your gal pals and help inspire others to get out and live a stylish life.

  1. Saw “Hayfever” just last night and enjoyed it very much — get out and support your local arts organizations, posse friends! For those of you who missed Richmond Ballet’s “Swan Lake,” the Russian National Ballet is presenting “Sleeping Beauty” April 25 at UR’s Modlin center….a terrific, easy venue.
